With my real experience as I also faced so couple of times last year. It happens when you are under too much stress. When I visited doctor he asked me take tablet and mentioned you will have to eat whole your life. I was very sad that while I am health conscious person, how can this happen to me. With my experience on 2 occasions, I took medicine for 2-3 days which helped to bring the BP down as its very urgent to bring it down. In parallel I tried to relax, stop salty, oily, outside food. When it came around 140 range, I stopped medicine but continued other things, along with walk etc. My BP is fine now most of the time.
