Post Covid Weight Gain

I have always been in 65-70KGs range and would seasonally gain and loose weight. Post Covid, there is a change in pattern and my weight is constantly increasing making me close to 85KGs.

I understand the impact lockdown has had on lifestyle, resulting into weight gain, but even after resuming a usual lifestyle I am not able to get the usual weight loss/gain pattern.

I was really wondering if its just because of Covid (read on internet that Covid can cause weight gain) or its something else.

Before going to a doctor and consulting I wanted to check in this forum if anyone has bumped into a similar situation? Would appreciate listening to other’s experiences.

  1. I don’t think you should see doctor for weight mamagement. May be get regular health checkup done and see if any parameter is off track that may be causing weight increase, like Thyroid. But if not then just focus on exercise, yoga and diet control.

      1. Thanks for your reply.
I recently had a general health checkup done and most parameters seemed to be in place.
Guess you are right, I should follow a disciplined diet and exercise plan.

  2. I can totally relate to what you’re going through with post-COVID weight gain. After recovering, I noticed some weight gain myself, and I’ve been working on getting back into shape.

One thing that’s really helped me is incorporating walking into my daily routine. I try to walk consistently every day, and I’ve found that taking a walk after meals, especially dinner really helps. Another key thing I’ve been focusing on is not overeating. I lost 5 kgs by doing just this last year. It might take time, but consistency is key. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best on your journey!

      1. Thanks, I guess the psychology can lead you to interpret the thing in a particular way.
Now a days a lot of things inadvertently get associated as aftermath of Covid and this might be just a hoax thing.

Thanks for calling it out, I should detach the Covid aspect from my weight gain and just start concentrating on diet and excercise.
