Symptoms: For the past several weeks, I’ve been experiencing persistent tiredness in my eyes, dryness, and mild headaches. I was fairly certain these symptoms were connected to my eyes. The discomfort became more noticeable after long hours of working on my laptop, but even during breaks, pressing around my eyes intensified the feeling.
I’ve always worn glasses while using my laptop, but the symptoms persisted despite this habit.
Diagnosis : Concerned, I decided to consult an eye doctor for a thorough checkup. Fortunately, there were no serious issues, and my prescription hadn’t changed significantly. Nonetheless, I opted for a new pair of progressive lenses from a reputed brand, Crizal Epro, hoping they might help. However, there wasn’t any immediate significant improvement.
After discussing my condition with the doctor and lens specialist, I learned that my symptoms were primarily due to dry eyes and weakened eye muscles.
Challenges: Being in the IT industry, avoiding screens isn’t an option. My daily screen time often stretches to 12-14 hours, including time spent on my laptop, mobile phone, and TV.
What Worked for Me : After some self-study and following my doctor’s advice, I implemented the following strategies that have significantly improved my condition:
1. Wearing Glasses Continuously: Ensuring I wear my glasses throughout the day to reduce strain.
2. Using Eye Drops: Applying Optisoft eye drops 2-3 times a day to combat dryness.
3. Taking Frequent Breaks: Closing my eyes for 1-2 minutes every 30 minutes during screen use.
4. Practicing Eye Exercises: Doing simple exercises like focusing on the tip of a pen as I move it closer to and farther from my eyes.
5. Reducing Screen Time: Making a conscious effort to limit unnecessary screen exposure whenever possible.
